In Irish lore the bean tighe was a type of kindly house jinni which were described as looking like a kindly little old peasant woman with a round, dimpled face. These benevolent little jinn lived near the hearth and helped with household chores, such as looking after the children and keeping the home clean.
Bean Tighe was also the name of the jinni housekeeper to the Earl of Desmond and his wife, Jinn Queen, Aine. Bean Tighe was said to appear sitting atop of an ancient earth-mound which was shaped like a giant chair known as Suidheachan ("Housekeeper's little seat").
