Gull was one of the jinn mentioned being in the company of Robin Good Fellow in a seventeenth century pamphlet. He and his fellow jinn, Grim, Patch, and Pinch are all said to have shape-shifting abilities. According to William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet Gull was a midwife to the jinni; in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Gull confesses at nigh to using a disguised voice to deceive men.
