Ieropael was named in the Testament of Solomon as one of the seventy-two Spirits of Solomon that the king used to build his temple; he was made to perform heavy labor. The demon of convulsions and cramps, he knocks a person down and then sits on their stomach, causing cramps and convulsions, typically while they are bathing or traveling. Ieropael, described as having a shapeless head like a dog and the face of a bird, donkey, or ox, is also one of the thirty-six Elemental World Rulers. He is easily banished by saying in the right ear of one of his victims the phrase "Iudarizê, Sabunê, Denôê” three times; he will immediately retreat.
